| A Deer Valley bathroom renovation from the floor up. The client wanted to get away from the typical mountain rustic design theme and emphasize simplicity and honesty of materials while being concious of our environment and its longevity. This was achieved by accentuating contemporary lines with materials that retain the emotion of aged existence. The original wood floor was replaced with a concrete floor, that was stained a neutral brown and sealed with a low VOC sealer. This project was designed around the concept of a floating metal vanity that opens the tight space up to greet the user. The concrete sink evokes a sense of nature through the organic esthetic, color and contour, (natural sealer applied). The floating mirror is framed with metal, harmonizing with the floating vanity. Intending too warm the cold material (metal), a patina was applied to accentuate the subtle graining techinque that was used, giving a sense of natural evolution and honesty. |
